The Mustang II is a Mustang too!
I grabbed one of those transitionals today too. The paint is almost all gone, but there's no weathering to the body. I've never seen an almost paintless diecast that hadn't seen at least some weathering/corroding, but this one is perfect. I don't even need to strip it (just need to scrape a tiny bit of paint off the front)!

Let's see some pictures! If the AMC Matador is the one I'm thinking of (Summer) there are three or four different casting variations.

Y'know I'm doing my Mercedes Limo? It's absolutely jaw-droppingly awesome, I've just put the first layer of signwriting on it :)

Possibly one of the most worrying moments from Standlake this year:

That's one hot Chevette.

Probably the first time 'hot' and 'Chevette' have been used in the same sentence.

Was the driver okay?

Yeah, luckily he managed to get out alright - incidentally the driver of that car is the team mate of the driver who had the huge Humber wreck

What a horrible casting! Falls into the same category as my Chevy Nomad and Pontiac Parisienne

I've noticed that on ebay the banger models that always fetch good prices are usually Bears or Stinkbridge cars  :

I probably will get round to doing a Bears Volvo at some point, the complicated paint job puts me off somewhat though

Those are also larger scale cars- it's a lot easier to get something right in that scale as opposed to 1/64.

It's a Chrysler 180, the one I found at the autojumble last week. It's going to make an awesome banger

When will the Classic Car people learn??

That is absolutely f***ing scandelous and it's exactly the sort of thing that leads to Banger racers being lanbelled as ignorant, selfish w***ers.

Message to said ignorant, selfish w***ers : What are you going to do when you've killed all the rare cars eh? If I catch someone sniffing round my cars with a view to bangor racing them (or just taking them at all) I'll introduce their kneecaps to a large metal pole. Kind of like a burglar alarm that'll stop the offender from being able to drive anyone elses car without their permission.

Let's not get involved in flame wars on another board. How would we like it if they came over here, or to Ovalchat?

Ramblin' on my mind
I was thinking of joining the board so I could post this response I've been working on:

I love the way you just called a large group of people stupid by miss spelling scandalous.

Seriously, I don't think anyone has ever shot themselves in the foot with a surface to air missile.

Just to make sure you can still walk by the end of this thread, I'm going to bring your attention to these two facts:

1: The one million pound prize in "Who wants to be a millionaire" inspired a couple to attempt to cheat in order to win. A couple of months ago, four Italian football teams were supposed to go on trial for match fixing.

The reason I mention these incidents is to point out this - There are a****les in every sport, competition or race for which there is a prize, and who the heck do you think you are for using them to taint the image of thousands of other law abiding people?

2: If you banger race a rare car, 99.9% of the time it's because it is not fit for anything else. What is the point of restoring a car that would require another perfectly good vehicle to salvage parts from?

I've watched vintage Daimlers roll onto the track for their first race and get towed off in two parts. They don't survive for long because they are rotten to the core, and unless you've got Bernard’s f****** Watch then you won't be able to fix said teeny problem.

Wadda y'all think?

Honestly, I can't see wasting the time or energy trying. We're talking about a group of hypocrits- willing to buy all the parts they need off of banger drivers, but who then criticize using the junkers on the track. If these cars had any worth they wouldn't be going to the track in the first place. Besides, these cars would otherwise just be weighed in anyway, so what's it matter if they're raced first, or crushed without anyone knowing about it?

Sadly, they can't see that. And by posting anything there you're just going to incite them further and add more fuel to the :flamewar:
