The Mustang II is a Mustang too!

The Toronado is amazing- I've seen one in a demolition derby before (albeit, not in the last 15 years!). They're front wheel drive and the one I remember was nailing everything with the front of the car. It only got stopped when it got pushed out of the ring, and ended up with the front wheels hanging over a ditch, spinning helplessly. If that's the year Toronado being raced, JL makes one. |

I have one of those MGs under construction myself. I'll have to take a picture. As for the Pacer- good choice, the Nash Metropolitan shown is also an AMC product.

The Nash/Austin Metropolitan (I think it was badged as an Austin in the UK) really didn't stand up too well against the Cortina's and Bluebirds common in the bangers:![]() |

I'm just curious on this... How many bangers have you done so far? I'm up to 104 cars and an additional nine vans. USA: 41 (39.4%) UK: 22 (21.2%) Germany: 13 (12.5%) Japan: 10 ( 9.6%) France: 10 ( 9.6%) Sweden: 4 ( 3.8%) Italy: 2 ( 1.9%) Australia: 2 ( 1.9%) Breakdown by manufacturer: Matchbox: 25 Hot Wheels: 22 Yatming: 12 Majorette: 12 Johnny Lightning: 11 Corgi: 5 Racing Champions: 2 Motor Max: 2 ERTL: 2 Tomica: 2 Kidco: 1 Jada: 1 Road Champs: 1 Welly: 1 Siku: 1 Revell: 1 Action: 1 Guisval: 1 Summer: 1 Vans: Matchbox: 3 Majorette: 2 Johnny Lightning: 1 Siku: 1 Hot Wheels: 1 Maisto: 1 As you can see by the numbers, I have too many Yanks, and not enough British cars. My eventual goal is to have proper British cars making up more than 50% of my field of cars, with US cars down below 20%.

The orange Nomad is altered to be a generic- notice the tailfins have been removed from the car. I think that one needs to be crushed instead.

I have two of those in various stages of bangerization already. Majorette does the 260Z. Hot Wheels did a 240Z called Z-Whiz in the '70s. I believe they have another one in the 2006 First Editions, but slightly customized. One of my very first customs was an attempt to turn a Z-Whiz into Smokescreen from Transformers. I'll post the pictures sometime- it's not pretty. I didn't strip it first, and Smokescreen is actually a 280Z, which Yatming, Matchbox, and others make. Speaking of the 280Z, there's a picture of one raced on the AtoZ site. |

Haha, Z-Whiz doesn't work too well with an English accent! Presumably it's supposed to be pronounced "Zee - Whiz". We would say "Zed-Whiz". |

Banger Racing has been getting a bad reputation lately, as several classic cars, some in mint condition, have been stolen and have ended up on the track, enthuasiasts have been calling banger drivers ''theiving knuckle dragging scum'' and such on many forums

Yeah, but they don't have the slightest clue what they are going on about, they just jump to the conclusion that all banger drivers are thieving scumbags, the reality is 99.99% are perfectly respectable people with no intentions whatsoever of buying stolen cars for racing One of the cars which got stolen was supposedly raced, a Plymouth Satellite Estate that was in perfect condition when it was stolen, but the car which was raced when bought had a very badly damaged side like it had been in a major collision. People automatically assume that it's the banger drivers themselves who steal, but it's proper thieves who steal the cars then sell them on very cheaply. If you look at the amount of Hiab Trucks that've been stolen recently by gangs of gypsies it is easy to see that baner drivers really aren't to blame. Just my

I have to agree that many classic car entuasiasts take the subject of classics being raced far too seriously, they are only lumps of old rusty metal, for goodness sake
I have just come back from an under 1800cc meet, not much action in the races, but in the final one of the drivers went mental and started following in the rodding cars , there was also a ramp rollover contest featuring 9 cars, which was probaly the best part of the meeting. The Beech meet at Standlake is only 1 week away.....
