I was thinking about that, but I sort of want a more 'spectacular' paintjob

I'm going to have to agree with Daniel- do it Hitmen style. It may not be a spectacular paint scheme, but the contrast of the colors is good.

If you get the lettering right it won't need to be spectacular. It should look great with the 3d text. Heheh, "Gentle" persuasion! Still, I'm very glad you decided to. It's made for it in my opinion. Ah, and that P1800 should make an awesome banger! Especially with your webbed site on the side! |

Nope, the P1800 won't make it to the track as it's got far too many valuable bits left on it at the moment, but the Amazon estate will definitely be going onto the track some time in the near future, depends how long it takes for Wilko to fix it up! The P1800 probably will make it on in the future, depends whether my old man needs any more bits from it. As far as I know, in recent memory only 1 P1800 has been raced |

If you come across any more of the Matchbox Skodas, let me know. I need one for my collection, and one to banger. And I just got a bunch of new bangers in... and several painted (at Mark's!). Pictures when they're done. Thanks to everyone who attended Mark's gathering- I was supplied with a bunch of new bangers.

Nice! I managed to score a Vanguards Vauxhall Cavalier this afternoon for a cool tenner, I had a great discussion with the shop owner about how Corgi is digging it's own grave, as it's been bought off by an american company who are now making all these silly dioramas which don't fit in the display cabinets and army models nobody wants as they are in the wrong scale

My dad got me 2 more future bangers today, a Matchbox Opel Diplomat missing most of its paint and a 1/36 scale Corgi Jaguar XJ12 coupe police car missing its lights
And a non banger which is very old and MINT condition...even its original tyres have no cracks in them whatsoever...Its a classic British estate car thats all I am saying

It depends entirely on the rules at various tracks, Jeeps are not usually used as they are just too strong! I've seen a Nissan Patrol raced before and it just didn't stop moving.......until the steering broke

Got some new ones coming tonight, and I picked up a few to banger at the Adamstown show today too. Slim pickings quantity wise, but it made up for it in the castings found. Too bad a few of them are in rough shape- I actually drilled apart a Matchbox Mercedes 450 SEL and found that it was so far gone (corroded everywhere- base and body alike) I tossed it back in the bag- it's going to Nick's for crushing.
Another one that I found that went to bangering was a Ford Cortina in a very nice burgandy color (ironically I had just repainted one of the tan ones almost exactly the same color for my bangers- expect to see that one tomorrow night) that I had picked up for my collection. When I got it home I noticed that the base had started corroding- not surprising since I got it from the same vendor as the Mercedes. Well, it's getting bangered since the body's still good and I can fix the base- trim it if I have to. Is the burgandy Cortina hard to find? I've never seen one 'til today, and it tore me up to cut it up... |

I wouldn't know about burgundy Tina's, There was a Transitional Matchbox Cortina at the autojumble but it had both the front pillars missing so I left it - too much like hard work to fix

It may not be a spectacular paint scheme, but the contrast of the colors is good.
