Pictures at the end of your post

Please, nobody take offense here, I don't mean any offense. But, some folks have huge pictures at the end of every one of their posts e.g. the head of the Tazmanian Devil. Big pictures like that are overkill and are boring to see over and over and over again when you are trying to read a thread. If you 'need' to show a picture at the end of every one of your posts, maybe you could consider making them smaller? :(

We could put a standard signature size limit into effect. How about roughly the size of my own sig?

That certainly would be a step in the right direction.

Okay, new policy going into effect. Is it the height or the width, in particular? I'm assuming it's the height...

How about a sig size to be no bigger than 150 pixels tall by 550 wide (mine is 149x534).

Yours is 399 x 112.

The easy way to tell is to right click the image and select properties. You should see something saying dimensions ' ___ x ___' and that's width x height.

400 x 150, with an additional 426 x 20 underneath it.

Since that totals 170 in height, you'll have to edit it down a bit. Sorry. :(

Probably because it's two seperate images, and it's not that much over what I suggested be the new limit. Still, I can't make exceptions or it defeats the purpose of having the rule. However, this thread is still open to discuss the size limit- I proposed one, that doesn't mean we have to go with it. Feel free to suggest sizes, ranging from no sigs at all to no limits on size at all.

Personally, I am of the opinion that a signature is an expression of a person's creativity and shouldn't be stifled, hence why we've had no limit up til now. The flip side is, it gets repetitive, and it kills dial-up users. So please continue adding input. Once we get something squared away, we'll post it.

How do you put a picture on there?

First you need to have an image you want to use. Next you have to upload it somewhere. Then once you have it uploaded to the Internet, go to my controls and select the signature option. Then put this in: (IMG]URL to your picture here[/IMG) (except you woulf replace the ( and ) with [ and ] respectively.

It is the excessive height of the signature that annoys me, not the width. But I feel that having even the smaller picture signatures makes the thread more tedius to read through. Personally, I'd prefer a cleaner looking thread with more white space, that way the thread can be read faster. But if the majority want their pictures to be seen over and over again...so be it. Again, just my opinion and I don't mean to offend anyone.

Maybe a vote thread could be set up? Pethaps many other folks feel like I do but don't want to express their thoughts here, and by voting they could indicate how they feel without having to take the time to justify it.

That's what I figured. As for offending anyone, I don't think you have- you have a legitimate issue and one that we will resolve ASAP.

A poll shall be set up momentarily. Let me play around with IrfanView for a few minutes and we'll have some visual examples to vote on.

I will add that for anyone that does NOT want to see these pictures (called signatures), there is an option under your board settings in your Control Panel....in fact, its the first option that it asks you.

Hope this helps.

I'll look for another pic Swifty. That cup is mine. I'll see if I can find it on a memory card that I have, or I'll find something else that I may use. I have quite a few TAZ items. I may take a pic of a very small TAZ pin that I have and use it by the end of the week.

Thanks for this info, I wasn't aware that I could de-select seeing photo signatures. I changed my setting in the Control Panel and I like the clean look of all the threads I read now. It's so much easier and faster to read too. For me, signature size is not an issue anymore.
