OK, what is your ultimate driving song? A son which just blows you away every time you listen to it behind the wheel (or as a passenger, as the case may be) My nominations would have to go to - The Chemical Brothers - Surface to Air. Absolutely awesome in every conceivable way, off one of the only albums I have not got bored of listening to. I heartily recommend buying their album or at the very least downloading the track, it'll amaze you . This also gets my vote as the best end-track on an album ever! The Prodigy - Shoot Down. Again, absolutely awesome. If listened to extremely loud it sounds absolutely a-maze-ing! Again I heartily recommend downloading the track and listening to it Those are my nominations, what about yours? Maybe we can build up an ultimate driving song collection

Exactly what I was thinking. I also submit "Trans Am (Highway Wonderland)" by Sammy Hagar for consideration. |

Well, I am a Hagar fan so 55 is up there. A song that sticks with me when driving has to be this experience..... Imagine cruising down a flat straight desert highway in Arizona with the Rocky Mountains way off in the distance at 3am with a full moon and nobody else on the road. Everybody else in the car is sleeping. On the radio come "Don't Fear the Reaper" by Blue Oyster Cult. It was a moment of time I will never forget. I had chills the whole song. Of course, that was more or less perfect timing. That song does not have the same effect in rush hour traffic. |

I think songs about driving are a little too cliche to be great driving songs. |

Yes, I think I rather agree with that. I'll only ever need two songs in my car. (When I get one. )For the day: Hide Away - John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers (Clapton, baby - This song is a three minute guitar solo.) For the night: Tonight (duh) - Spiderbait (So long as you ignore the cliche lyrics, its a really good song.) |

As for what songs get cranked when I hear them while driving: "Making Love Out of Nothing At All" (Air Supply) "Total Eclipse of the Heart" (Bonnie Tyler) "We Built This City" (Starship) "Call It Love" (Poco) |

Air Supply may originally be from Australia, but I'm sure the US won't mind deporting them to Canada to keep you company all winter. Actually, they do have a few upcoming tour dates in Canada: http://www.airsupplymusic.com/tour.html None of which are likely close to you, but all are probably still too close for your comfort.

The Hombres - Let It All Hang Out You know what this song needs to be? Six minutes longer. The perfect cruising music. Was recently used in a Fosters "twist" advert here in the UK. |
