I think until the beginning of April, I think a Volvo would be alright as they use them in compact derbies

At the end of the month we usually nominate someone to send the pics of our entries to, then they set up a poll I have a Mercury of some sort for this one, I'm keeping it under wraps as to what type though

Sounds like you're the first one done this month! I've got my car picked out and stripped, but that's as far as I've gotten. |

Is it OK if I can't find pictures of derby cars to just do my own design, but keep it in the same style as a DD car? |

Absolutely. And if you need pics of a certain make/model as a derby car, let me know and I'll see what I can dig up. |

Talk about a tough one! These cars were not popular when new, and I haven't seen one personally since the mid-'90s (a neighbor had a yellow one up until about '96 or so). I have managed to find record of one being used in a demolition derby in 1996, but there is no picture. http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/compa.../1?viscount=100 See post #8 Will you be using the Hot Wheels, the Playart, or the generic copy of the Playart? The Omni 024 became the Dodge Daytona in 1984, and I have a record of a '91 Daytona winning a compact derby recently (again no pic): http://www.carterperformancehorses.com/carters%20page.htm |

For those still looking for suitable derby cars, I want to emphasize almost anything is fair game: http://www.hartin.com/1996.htm (Hot Wheels has the correct body style, Yatming) http://www.hartin.com/1999.htm (Matchbox, Maisto, and more...yes that's a real Trans Am!) http://www.derbyheat.com/bbs/index.php?showtopic=1375 '80s Mustangs- and lots of them (Hot Wheels, Yatming, Corgi, etc.). Also a couple Mustang IIs (Tomica, Welly, MotorMax). |

67 pages worth of derby car pics: http://www.derbyheat.com/bbs/index.php?showtopic=1159 A little bit of everything! Built cars, raced cars, cars that haven't been built yet (including at least two Gremlins and lots of Mustangs ). Full-sizers, compacts, '60s, '70s, '80s, '90s- you name it. Tons of Yank iron that's readily available in 1/64.
