Hi Folks!!!
Just discovered this forum earlier on today whilst browsing through some Banger related sites Some crackin looking models under construction/already completed from folks Apologies if its been mentioned elsewhere but can anyone point me in the direction of somewhere I can get hold of a flat bed lorry model which would be suitable for 1/43rd scale cars? I fancy attempting building a flat bed, complete with Hiab to carry my MK1 Granny model I'm also having a go at building I currently have around 60 or so 1/43rd scale Fords, ranging from road going MK1 Escorts to Focus Rally replicas. Also have a couple of Transit vans with trailers complete with tyre racks and MK1 Granny rims from an earlier attempt at building a banger which went drastically wrong  Very impressed as well with the model scrapyard, yet another thing to add to my ever increasing "to do" list.. Well done once again to everyone involved here, now added to my favourites list!!! ![]() CHEERS!!! Andymek. |

Welcome, welcome, welcome Glad to see another member interested in banger racing - say, where abouts are you based? I find the best places to find model trucks etc are boot sales, but you just have to get lucky. I have a flat bed truck that may be of interest to you though. I was going to convert it into a transporter but I neither have the time, nor can be bothered to put in the effort . It would need the rear end building from scratch, and a crane. Could be a good starting point if you're considering scaling down to 1/64 ish, the only company I can think of that'd do a larger flatbed truck for 1/43 cars is Siku......Here it is next to a Matchbox Rover Sterling, it looks abut the right scale to me ![]() Hope to see some of your customs soon, and welcome to the garage

Thanks for the welcome Mookie, much appreciated!!! I live in Glenrothes,Fife about 12 miles or so from Racewall Cowdenbeath where I am the scrutineer for the National Saloons there,(Help out with other formulas as well when needed,Will be doing the bangers this coming weekend for our World Cup meeting) Would prefer to keep everything in 1/43rd scale as thats all I have at the moment I'm off on holiday again this year to Spain where, in previous years I've seen some nice looking construction type models and there is models available that would perhaps be suitable for the job in hand, I didnt bother too much about them in the past as i thought I'd have nothing better to do than simply browse the web whilst back home and find them, but unfortunately no-one seems to stock them in the UK me thinks that this year I'll leave space in my suitcase for a few models to bring home! Hello again folks!! Not been up to much recently model building wise as the real life racing has kept me on my toes in the last few weeks Only progress made so far is the 1/43rd scale Sierra Cossie has been stripped down and the arches have been buffed off using the Dremmel and the front panel and rear bumpers have been ground away too. There has been a name plate visor added to the front windscreen aperature and the shell has been given a lick of paint complete with saltire design on the roof as the model I'm basing it on was that of former Scottish Saloon Champ Gordon Alexander Still to decide exacty what I'm going to use for the bumpers as the plastic box section we use for the 12th scale models is a bit too big for a 1/43rd scale, plastic box section the size of matchsticks would probably suit, just need to pay a visit to the local hobby shop to see if they have any such thing I've attatched a work in progress pic of things so far, still to change the rims as well by the way!! Any comments/feedback would be much appreciated CHEERS!!! Andymek.

Nice progress with it! I'm thinking maybe trimming a piece of aluminum (someone else may have a better material suggestion here...) to cover the rear wheelwheels on each side to fully replicate the real car. Aside from that, I really don't have any suggestions, but it looks good so far! |

Is the base metal or plastic? If it's plastic you could file into it from either side where the axle sits, to shorten the axle to fit the plastic/aluminium flush with the body
