Sat on the pegs the longest? Least likely to come home with you? What made you cringe the worst? |

I had to go for the Scrapin' series on this one. Johnny Lightning did a decent enough job with wheels (those tiny lowrider wheels!) but the casting selection was terrible, as were the paint schemes. This is where a few new castings could have saved a series- a few '70s/'80s Monte Carlos, Impalas, and Caddies, in addition to the existing boattail Riviera and '70-'72 Monte Carlo could have made a difference. For Ford fans a '77-'79 Thunderbird or a big '70s Lincoln would have added a spice of variety to things. Not that I'm a huge fan of lowriders, but this series had more potential than what ended up making it to the pegs. |

See, I'd argue this. Scrapin' was poorly executed, but Import Heat was done decently. The cars were right, the wheels were right, heck even most of the paint schemes were decent (for what they were). But the market wasn't there, because JL was late to the party. Besides, JL's hardcore collectors are American car fans, and the only imports that can make a dent in JL sales are VWs. Now had an Import Heat series been done as a Tuner series including the then current '99-'04 Mustang, '02 Camaro, and the then current Cavalier, Neon, and Focus, it might have been slightly more successful. That said, the Integra, CRX, Civic, Accord, and 240SX are all great castings. I would prefer them stock, but I'm not going to be picky since most are the only the second (and with the exception of Maisto's Accord, best) example of each car in question. I must confess I bought a good deal of the Import Heat cars. |

Hot stuff

Had to go with Scrapin on this one. Those tiny lowrider wheels were awful, as were most of the paint jobs. I know where I can still go get one or two of these off the pegs! |

Only recently, I did too. Although I would never, ever have bought a 1:1 of these cars, they are a small piece of our auto history, and what you see/saw on the streets. JL quality on these import cars was very good, IMO, and the paint jobs are colorful and represent the tuners well. I don't display them in my wall display cases, but I do have dedicated Plano cases (the ones Swifty likes so much ) to display them... and that's fine.

Scrappin, hands down. That is the only set I have none from. Well, ok, I did get some in a case I bought, but they went right to my 3 year old's collection. Last time I checked, they were pretty much destroyed. I agree with the comments on the Import Heat - not much of a market, but if they had made a few adjustments, they probably woudl have sold. BWF, PiP, American Glory (with the right cars) are all hits. I'm not a Spoilers/Zinger fan, but they seem to have an auidence. The Kustomized and Thirteen series, again, depending on the car, seemed to move well. All in all, a good line to re-use exisiting cars with new paint that could make money when done well. |

Heh, only if the 'opinion' is exactly the same as mine. Oh, wait a sec...wrong board! *Swifty enters and kicks Swifty's butt* Let me know if that Swifty guy gives you any more trouble. And seriously, a lot of people agree with you. They pegwarmed, didn't they?

*tip toes in to quietly offer an opinion*
Sat on the fence between Import Heat and Scrapin'. Both represent American Car Culture but neither appeal to me to include in my diecast collection. I chose Import Heat as least favorite - I refer to those cars as they buzz by on the streets as "Zipper Cars"; annoying!
