The Mustang II is a Mustang too!

Top ten ways to tell Swifty's been following banger racing way too much. 10. Lives in the USA yet has started calling American cars 'Yanks'. 9. Sees an AMC Pacer and thinks 'Milo raced one of those!' 8. Has started calling station wagons 'estates'. 7. Is desperate for a DS420 hearse in 1/64. 6. Has attended demolition derbies again for the first time in fifteen years. 5. Has pulled cars (#619 Road Ragers; #146 Grim) from the junkcar lineup on the monster truck diorama to banger instead. I haven't worked on monster truck customs since 'Fest '05. 4. Lies awake at night wondering where the Bears get all those Yanks and Supras they race. 3. Has pictured what brand new cars will look like as bangers in ten years. 2. Shows banger racing clips on Youtube to friends. Also, SOD is now represented in (at least) three US States (Pennsylvania, Kentucky, and Oregon). 1. Can't wait to find new Matchbox (Austin Minivan), Hot Wheels (Lincoln Continental), MotorMax Fresh Cherries ('79 Chrysler Town & Country), and Johnny Lightning ('73 Caprice Estate) models as they're released to banger. Banger racing. How bad have you got it? |

I would love to! One day I will make a trip to the UK. But that is years off, unfortunately, due to other expenses that need to be paid off first. As for addicted. I've been hooked for quite awhile. #10 on my list is what made me think of doing this top 10 list. I was going through one of the banger photo sites and muttered 'now that's a tasty Yank' and realized...I'm a Yank. What am I saying?!? I think I'm in deep now.

banger racing will die out once the old cars have run out due to the fact the new cars are built to fall apart to save the passengers all new citreons peugeots fords vauxhalls ect have a new style engine mount which allows the engine to drop out rather than buckle so that should answer that question lol |

They said that about demolition derbies here in the USA too, but the drivers have adapted and now there are compact car demo derbies too. As for banger racing, I suspect rules about strengthening cars will get more lax as the years go on in order to keep the show going. People have raced cars like Mondeos, Calibras, and a Focus has been raced also, so newer cars can and have run. Not as exciting as Granadas, but surely no less exciting than Blueys? |

well i agree but it just ruins the fun in not adapting the cars streigngth (except for safety) cause like u stick a yank in a banger race with a decent running engine and u know itll last the hole day u stick a focus out there you lucky to finnish the first race and get it back for the second without major repairs in between....... |

There will come a time when the cars used commonly today are rare, the cars of the future are Mondeos, Focus's, Cavaliers (still!). Only the overs bangers will die out as there aren't really any proper overs cars being made any more, unless you count the odd Jaguar |

Omega's and Mondeos are the future..along with older BMW's when they get cheaper, along with jags, volvos, and the odd granada will pop up like westys do now! As for the unders theres plenty of blige around ( basically useless stuff to those who dont know..,maxis and the like) They said 10 years ago that in five years time bangers will be all nudge and spin in soft cars and in ten years time there will be no bangers left..we all no now it isnt true Anoraks back on the shelf for tonight... |

It makes you wonder though where all these drivers get their bits of epic tin, like Tiggy's 1948 Rolls hearse to name but one |

Ebays brought alot out of the woodwork..However in the past 3 weeks or so ive found at least 2 epic peices of tin..there may be more behind the house in one garden..and with the other there was at least 20 XJ's and a mk10 jag
all rotting away to nothing-ness
