The Mustang II is a Mustang too!

Well, on my lunch hour today I was sitting at a redlight. All of a sudden BOOM! The minivan (1990 Chevrolet Astro) took the brunt of the damage, but the Stang didn't get away completely unscathed:![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The minivan needs a new front bumper, grill, radiator, and who knows what else. She left it running and with the coolant running out, it overheated... |

We'll find out tomorrow (I hope). She called her company, I called mine. I was at a dead stop at a redlight- she's 100% at fault. She even admitted she was distracted by one of her kids and plowed smack into me. Let's hope I don't get screwed by her insurance company. I'm kinda depressed though. I love that car. My coworkers were amazed I didn't break down in tears. But the truth is its only a car, and the important part is no one was injured.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune Swifty. Atleast no one got hurt. On Friday 6/8/07 my house got struck by lightning. It hit the chimney (blew the bricks over 30 feet into my backyard, damaged my roof at the rear of the house and my rear porch roof too, along with the phone line and my computer). My computer was able to be repaired, but it not working very well. The gutters need replaced too. I was without a computer for over a week. I'm still waiting for the insurance company to settle up with me and start repairs. I sounded like a BOMB hit my house. I consider myself lucky (my house didn't catch on fire). |

Things can always be worse Swifty. I'm just having a run of "Bad Luck" lately. The lightning strick on my house was 3rd. misfortune in less than a month. I'm not sure if it was the worst of my three misfortunes though. Life is short......enjoy it! |

I am so sorry to hear this. IF it had to happen, this is about as good as it could get. Her at fault, with insurance, car not to badly hurt and no one injured. It could have all been worse. I have been through the heart break of a pony crash. My 69' is is still in the drivway! So my heart goes out to you. I hope the paperwork goes smoothly. But at least you know the the custom PIP version that I have ( By Stuiped Squirrels Customs) did not jinx you. The diecast is hit in the front , not the rear! Keep us updated on the repairs. |

Heh, I know. But I figured I'd give you an update. You need to send it back to him so he can unPIP the front and PIPify the back. Or, if you have another spare... Once I get more details on it (in other words, replacement bumper from Ford or one scrounged off a junkyard car) I'll let you know for authenticity's sake if you're interested. And keep the plate this time. In the meantime, the paperwork is going smoothly, but I won't get an estimate until Monday. |

Herbie Rocks!

As have I....... Here are some pics of my old 2000 mustang. Sorry for the poor quality but I don't have a scanner so I had to take pictures of pictures  Long story short, I was driving through the mountains and didn't get any sleep the night before. You know those big rocks and small trees that they plant on the side of mountain roads so you don't go to far down? Yea they bung a car up pretty well. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() If you compare the wheel position on those last two pics you can tell that there was a fair amount of suspension damage. They had to replace the entire drivers side of the car (front fender, door skin, rear quarter panel), both bumpers (inner sections and outer skins), left and right rocker panels and rocker panel mouldings, Three wheels and tires, radiator, radiator support, plus they had to fix dents on the passenger side, and pound dents out of the floor board, and it had to spend a considerable amount of time on a frame machine, amoungst other things. Let this be a lesson....... Do not drive when you are stupid tired!!! Swifty...... I am glad to hear that every one is ok and that the damage wasn't to bad. hope all goes well with the insurance thing.

Sorry to hear about the bad luck some of you had. Stuff happens to all of us at one time or another.
Sean, tough break on the Mustang. I know I'd feel depressed too if someone bumped my Jag, even if it was just a door dent or ding. I hope 'they' fix it to your satisfaction. On the lighter side...now I need to push in the back of my Swifty Mustang to keep it like the 1:1 . |

Nooooooo! I intend to get it fixed back to normal....and then probably trade it in. I'll probably try to get a GT in the same color, if I can. |

Update! I got the estimate today, and the insurance agent managed to get these two pictures of the undercarriage for me: ![]() ![]() The diagnosis: Rear bumper needs to be repaired (I'm surprised, I expected them to replace it), the crash bar needs to be replaced, and the frame rail will need to be straightened. As I had suspected, the crash did more damage than was visible in the original pics. By the way, in the event any of you ever get rear-ended, and the car looks fine, let this be a lesson- get the other driver's insurance info and get an estimate anyway. So my car's in the shop, probably until Friday. In the meantime, I have a loaner: a 2007 Volkswagen Passat 2.0T (turbo). Its the first Volkswagen I've ever driven, and the first turbo car I've ever driven. Its got a very smooth ride, and the car handles great. But I don't like the turbo lag. Oh, and obviously as a rental car its going to rack up its fair share of mileage, but this is a current model year car with more miles on it than my two year old (and then some) Mustang. Clocked in at exactly 24,000 miles when I picked it up, while my Mustang had precisely 22,134.8 (I know what you're thinking- 'he knows the exact mileage off the top of his head?!?' but I assure you, this was documented due to all the insurance paperwork). |

Hard to believe its been over a week since I updated this topic. Harder still to believe...I still don't have my car back. I took it in on Monday the second. At that time I was told that they would replace the crash bar, straighten the frame rail, and repair the rear bumper (you'll remember I said I thought they would need to replace it...). The estimate was a little over $800. I have actually received the insurance check for that- so the holdup is not with the lady's insurance company. As stated in my previous post, I was told it should be ready by Friday (the 6th). I called on Friday, and they had not yet even looked at the car. The new time estimate was Tuesday. I called Tuesday, and was told they need to replace the bumper, and the trunk panel as well. No new estimate on the price (while this is not my concern, I'm starting to really feel bad for the lady that hit me), but the new time estimate is 'the end of the week'. I called the insurance company Wednesday to check on the status of my rental car... and the agent said not to be surprised if they keep my car through the weekend and into next week too. I want to scream. I miss my
