I was thinking of starting modelling...

Are you ready for some NIGHTS OUT?
I'm 15, in school still  and was going to start modifying the 100-odd cars I made into bangers with the worst method EVER: sticky labels on the doors, bonnet, and wherever. I also have a whole roster of drivers that I invented (including myself :D) and a variety of cars (from a Ford Granada to a Vauxhall Astra to a Merc limo!)
What are the basic tools I need to start modelling?
Thanks,
Jon

Here's a list of what I use

Humbrol or Revell model paints, humbrol have gone bust now but Revell are still making paint. £1.10 per tin from hobby shops

Plasticard/Plastruct - essential for making doorplates and rollcages. If you can't get any where you live I can send some to you

A drill for drilling them apart :D

Superglue for fixing them back together

Oh and don't forget paintbrushes, 3/0 or 4/0 for signwriting, 0, 1, or 2 for main painting

That's basically it :)

The Mustang II is a Mustang too!
You can also pick up a stripper for removing the model's original coats of paint. I tend to strip all my models, though I think I'm alone in that here.

At the very least, non-acetone nail polish remover will remove tampos so they don't show beneath the new coat of paint. Acetone nail polish remover will take most paint off of most cars. Some tougher ones (most Hot Wheels, and some newer Matchboxes) will require heavier duty strippers.

And PS- I'm glad I'm not the only one to focus on fictional drivers/teams. I like being creative and designing my own.

I've used 3 sheets of A4 paper for the amount of drivers I have!

I found the EXACT same Vauxhall Astra as I have on eBay

Only mine's more damaged (and I believe that it was one of my first ever models too!)
EDIT: And the Escort!

I'm not paying £8 for it though
