Have you noticed that the bases on the yellow and red Vegas are different from the bases on the green and the new red ProStocks? Yet, they share the same casting number.

Here are pics from jlcollector.com (thanks, Wyatt) the red one is the same (not on Wyatt's site yet) these are listed as '73 Vegas ![]() the red and white one is the same (not on Wyatt's site yet) these are listed as '71 Vegas Obviously, the bodies are different and, like I said, the bases are different too. But then there are castings #963 and #327. 963 is the regular AMX: ![]() and 327 is the Pro Stock AMX: ![]() Just thought this would make for some diecast discussion - that's all.

I've never taken a Johnny apart before, but did the base change when they decided not to produce the 4x4 anymore? i don't really see much difference in the bodies of the Vegas though. Sure they swapped hoods and interiors and the holes for the added spoiler can be easily done by swapping core pins in the mold. Also those AMX's you're showing, were created years apart. Your turn.

I have the new AMX casting handy, but I have to dig an old AMX casting out to compare them. |

The Mustang II is a Mustang too!

The AMXs are entirely different castings. 963 replaced 327- I doubt we'll ever see that one return to the lineup. As for the Vegas, I think the bases are different as one has a stock chassis and the other has a pro street chassis. |
