I received the JL 1950 Chevy pickup from the latest Classic Gold rel #37. It's pretty good in most respects, but it's not really a very new tooling, like from scratch. This JL 50 Chevy truck is a clone of the Racing Champions 50 Chevy truck. They just filled in the external mirror hole and put their own badging on the chassis. All the other detail is the same. Here's pics of the JL truck and the Racing Champions truck. ![]() Even the bumper bolts are the same and align up the same. ![]() Every little detail on the chassis is the same on both trucks. ![]() The way the tailgate opens is the same too, same tooling. ![]() Both trucks have the same bolt pattern in the truck bed, with wood texture.

I think it's the wheels that do it for it. |

Yep, the wheels and the red primer make it! Now we need a Ford pickup HOW for "Sanford and Son". |

this isn't the first one they used an ERTL casting for, I think the last Mercruy Cougar came from Racing Champions and there were a couple others as well. |

Definitely would love to see a Sanford & Son F-100. I have 2 versions of the RC 1950 Pickup (lime green and black). Have to say, I like the JL version better. I'll have to try to get another one and do a little customizing.

The Mustang II is a Mustang too!
|
I could be wrong, but I think the other difference is the RC doesn't have a metal base? |
