Saturday Sept. 22nd was a great day in the Northeast! That day, Dadscoronet, Carnut, Dave_anto364, BlackSunshine and Tracy (wife?), Stevette66, ECChopper, and myself got together to do a JL diecast raid on a big old (stress the big and old) hobby store in Connecticut. The owner of the store had received lots of sealed cases of new and old JL cars and let us buy the cases or open them up and cherry pick the good stuff. We all walked out of the store with bags full of JL; I had to make 2 trips to my car to carry the loot. Inside the store, it was like a mini Johnny Jam, with everybody showing the JL cars they found and offering them to others that might want them. It was a great group of collectors, and everyone had a great time.

If it weren't for these bulletin boards, none of this probably would have happened, as it was here that we all met.

Outside, in the parking lot, Mark (Dadscoronet) opened up the back of his car and, like Santa Claus, he reached in and pulled out goody bags to hand out. This was a big surprise! Mark, thanks for the cool cars in the bag, you're really a generous guy. Hopefully I can find something you need someday and surprise you with it.

After the raid on the hobby shop, we all went to a local restaurant for lunch. The tradeing and show-and-tell continued in the restaurant, as these guys brought in manys boxes of JL loot and spread the cars over a couple of tables of nearby booths. And the swapping and giving away cars continued. This was really a cool day! Made better by the great bunch of guys (and Tracy) that got together.

I wish I could've made it (I was told about it a few weeks ago), but I'm still feeling under the weather, and I'm also going to be in the area for Mark's gathering in a few weeks, so I couldn't really justify two New England trips that close together. See you in October. :)

You were missed, Mike & Sean. It was indeed a blast!!

The new cases Jack had were Holiday Classics 2007 (I snagged the '63 Galaxie and the '71 Vega GT) and Sixties Sizzle, R6 (I snagged the new '68 Shelby GT500 and the Avanti). Rich and I went in on a sealed case of Mopar Muscle, R3. No WLs but all had rubber redlines. The only car I already have is the red Daytona. Can't beat it for 2 bucks a car.
The only problem with this get together was that it went by way too fast!

You guys are so lucky to have someone around that gets some of that good older Mopar stuff in, and at great prices too!
