The Mustang II is a Mustang too!
|
First of all, thank you! And please pass that along as well.
Secondly- there are quite a few new variations in there for me! Never seen a white #28 Mustang or #34 Porsche, and the Monaco, Porsche, and Caddy are likewise ones I've never seen before (love the two tone blue on the Seville!). I've seen the purple Citation and white Corvette but don't have either. All new shades on the LUVs too. That's my favorite part about collecting Yat Mings- I never run out of new paint schemes to acquire! Thank you again!!!!! |

We where going through his stuff and he came across this box..... He said that he had bought them at a flea market for pretty cheap but they don't really fit in his collection. He then asked me.... "Do you know anyone who would be interested in some Yatmings?" You where the first person I thought of. I will send on the Thank you. |

Minivan

I've only got one - a Chevy Citation. They did a lot of nice models that no other manufacturers did, such as the VW Scirocco. |

Actually, they all look like legitimate Yat Mings. My only questionable one is the white Jeep in the last picture. Is there any number/marking on the base? In the other pics: Pic 1: Ford Galaxie 500 (#1075), BMW 320i (#1029), Chevy Citation (#1032), Dodge Monaco (#1037) Pic 2: Another Citation, Jaguar E-Type (#1010), '77 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am (#1060), '64 Chevy Impala (#1070) Pic 3: Chevy Lumina (#1003), '84 Chevy Corvette (#1038), '79 Ford Mustang Pace Car (#1028), Jeep (#1602 or #1603) |

The white Jeep is very similar to the blue one,but has opening doors instead of opening bonnet. The writing on the base says; JEEP CJ-7 NO. MADE IN HONG KONG |

Are you ready for some NIGHTS OUT?
|
Tim collects the same Rally Car Magazine models as I do! EDIT: Just noticed, Yatming have this odd trend whereby if they have a race car, they number it according to the last two numbers of its model e.g. the Chevy Citation is #32, and its model number is #1032. |

Not sure who actually makes the models, but they come from the DeAgostini Rally Car Collection. In the UK,the 1st few issues were available in the shops, but after a while you had to subscribe to get them. There are 70 cars in the collection, from the late '50s to the present day.If you want,I can post some pics of some more cars in a seperate thread. |

Yes, this is very true. And one of the things I like best about them. If they do 100 race cars you get 100 different numbers instead of the standard 1-9, 15, 31, etc. Of course the numbers get incorporated into the next tampo design many times so all the Porsche 928s are all #34, but that's okay in my opinion. There are a few exceptions (#1065 Corvette is racing #15 on the version I have- and in the picture at the very top you can see a white Corvette #15 that is also the #1065 casting) but this is pretty standard practice for them. Its also what makes it so much easier to remember the casting's number off the top of my head.

Pretty sure this is not a Yat Ming. And by all means, please start a new thread for the rally cars! I'd love to see the whole set!

Has the quality of Yatmings gone up in the recent years? I have 2 Yats, both tow trucks, one red, one white, and have no idea how old they are, but the qulaity and detail is very primitive. The CARnival Chevy however looks real nice, quite detailed or is it because of the customizer?

That BWF '57 Chevy is straight from the factory- no customizing at all. Most of the 1000 series Yat Mings actually date from the '80s, and are quite good castings: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
