Brief but interesting article here that goes on to discuss Johnny Lightning in relation to the recent changes in the model car industry =)

In the last year or two, there have been huge improvements to Johnny Lightning models. Lines are sharper, the engines look more like those in the real cars, and more attention has been given to details such as taillights, emblems, hood scoops and even strips on bumpers.....

I'm thinking (giving credit where it is due) that LC has put out some nice product, but are they really improved? I will even go so far as to say that they might be figuring one or two things out along the way, Lightning Rods and Road Trip sets showing promise of thought. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad the line is getting some favorable PR, but aside from upgrading the packaging, it's the same cars PM molded...or am I missing something here :02:

Except for the Oldsmobile, all of them are PM era castings (the Mustang was a transitional- planned in the PM era, finished in the RC2 era). The blue Camaro is the oldest of the bunch and not surprisingly, is the only one the author was critical of.
