The Mustang II is a Mustang too!
|
What are your favorite White Lightning traits? Do you collect them specifically, or will you add any WL to your collection? My favorite traits are color variation (a blue car is white or gold) or the Chia cars in the first set of Poker. White tires are growing on me. |

I like the white engines myself. I don't really go out of my way to collect chase cars. I still like to get them, but they're more of a curiosity to me. I like seeing accurate scale models.

Same here, but they're an aspect of collecting, so it's only fair we discuss them from time to time. With me, the Poker cars they only made 12 Chia cars, so I have been tracking them down one at a time. They go cheap and they're unique. As for color variations, if I get one cheap I'll grab it. I still have yet to get the Swifty Mustang as a WL. How sad is that?!? |

I think Mr Stubbs got one free on Hobby Talk. You may want to see if he wants to part with it. Not to change the subject here. lol |

Pearl body is definitely my favorite. But I'll take any WL I can find. White bases, tires, wheels, and interiors are just too obvious for my liking. |

White Lightning written on the tires. And of course the Racing Machines White Lightning written on the glass. I would have never known about these if not for Squid. Thanks for the tip lightningsquid! |

I like the body color change, but the white tires are nice, too. Im not big on the tinted windows, though. |

I don't go out of my way to acquire whites. If you find them on the pegs, then they do go home with me. Not going to go out of my way to buy them, esp for more than the cost of a normal JL. As for traits, white bases and white rubber tires are my favorite traits. Of the five whites I own, three have white tires, one has gold rims, and the other has white interior/base. |

I think the best WLs I've seen are the WWFs, they are very sharp looking. And no, I have none of these. I don't mind the white tires...I have two of those. White Lightning written on the tires is nice. But the white base does almost nothing for me. It just seems like a cheap way to go, spraying the bottom of the car white. I would almost rather see any other traits combined over that one. But as the owner of 9 whole WLs at this point, I'm not exactly trying to chase them down. Although some of the WWFs may be on the short list of WLs I will eventually get around to. |

Another of my favorites! How well do these blend in? I scored one while looking for a wheel donor on a project. There were four cars left on a clipstrip (two primer Novas, two VW Microbus concepts) and I reached for the top Nova wondering 'I wonder what brand of tires these are Goodyear? Firestone?' Only to be shocked that it was a WL. When there's only four cars left on a clipstrip, you really don't expect to find a WL!

i like my whites bold and noticeable. White bases, white tires, white lightning lettering on the tires oron the windscreen. I am not a fan of those misleading whites. Whiterims alone, white interiors, pearl white finishes. They only end up on EPay and some unknowing novice gets ripped off.If I find them I buy them, If I am RAOK'd they find a special place on my shelf. I don't go out of my way to find them, at least any farther then I go for regular diecast. 200 miles away is pretty well close to my limit

I agree, some of the tricky ones can be nice, but misleading unless you're very up on what's white and what's not. I haven't really kept up with all the unobvious traits in years. One could be right in front of me and I probably wouldn't notice. |

Pearl white body is my favorite trait. My first WL w/ that trait is the '69 Impala from Impala Parade.

![]() ![]() This is my contribution to the discussion. I do like the white body White Lightning castings. I don't have many in my collection so it is hard for me to formulate a definite opinion. An interesting topic. Cheers. Cobra |

RW, if it is a '80 Toyota BJ-40 Land Cruiser; I don't think you care what the WL traits are as long as you do end up with one. I must admit that I sure do like them pretty "whites" in the first image. Thanks for sharing the images of an outstanding JL casting. I won't bother asking you if it is a favourite!!! Cheers. Cobra |

I know! And I'm sure that many others know about this casting being one of your favourite JL castings. Just having some fun. RW, it never hurts to drop some BIG, REALLY BIG hints. One way of getting others to help you in your quest. Good luck. Cheers. Cobra |
