The Mustang II is a Mustang too!
Since we've had a lot of discussion about wheels in the variations thread, it got me to thinking about which do you prefer? As a kid I hated the Real Riders Hot Wheels did (they didn't roll as well) so I prefered Blackwalls. Nowadays I do like the added realism of rubber tires, but I still wish they'd roll better. And I still love the hard plastic tires, but I look at the rims and almost always the rubber tire variation looks better. So I'm going with mostly rubber, some plastic.

Support your local demo derby.

Wyatt's site has a whole listing of all the rim variations.

The two plastic ones I like the most are the slot mag (048), and the crager street light, (047).

Other than those, I prefer rubber tires with a realistic rim regardless of the make/model. So long as the rim/tire matches the car/truck, it does not matter.

My :twocents: .

Mostly rubber here, but there a few plastics that look fantastic on some cars, particularly the Ford GT and first gen Camaro.

Prefer the rubber tire but if I like the casting then it doesn't really matter,if the tire/wheel
looks really awful it can be changed ;)

I'm currently in the majority with my vote for mostly rubber tires. Although there's quite a bit of plastic in my collection, that hasn't always been by choice, and don't really mind the plastic tires. But in a perfect world, all of my favorite castings would have rubber tires here

As far as tires go, I like the hard plastic. The actual rims though are a different story. I think the Crager S/S (or whatever they are) look the best although some castings and paint schemes look better with a standard dog dish type wheel. Funny thing is, I hate Crager's on a 1:1 car, but can't get enough of them in 1:64.. Isn't that odd?

The overall quality can certainly effect how nice the wheels look regardless. I've seen worse rubber tires...like some of those thin rubber-band ones...than this one, that's for sure.

I am a fan of both if done up properly and nice. Realism for one is important and overall appearence means alot. I like lettering on my tires, in any color, and trim treatments like red lines or white walls. those big wide white walls of the 40's are classic and I love them. I am an ecletic collector as far as wheels are concerned. A little of everything.

I prefer the rubber version, but some of the plastic wheels are cool.

Wheel swaps are easy with the rubber tires.

I like the rubber better, but I do like some of the JL plastics with the Cragar mags in them...
And others if they look good !!!
