The Mustang II is a Mustang too!
The good:

Vega Kammback. Not sure when this one's coming, but I hope it's soon, and I hope it's in 1/64!

'74 Dodge Monaco fire chief. Nice variation since we almost always get police cars.

Challenger looks pretty good- I'm impressed with the two toned interior, if nothing else.

The new Dart casting will be a favorite of mine (I hope- we have yet to see any mock-ups of it!). And I like pink- especially on Mustangs and Mopars.

'85 Firebird Trans Am complete with screaming chicken!

'87 Monte Carlo SS Aerocoupe!

Dukes of Hazzard release 5. The camo colored cruiser is one of my favorites. Too bad it's the wrong bodystyle Monaco. Though I've noticed something- the longer the Dukes series runs the more glaring mistakes they correct. The General Lee eventually got a pushbar, rollcage, and correct rims. Daisy's Jeep is getting new rims now too. Maybe eventually they'll tool up a '77 Monaco and then re-release all the squad cars. I wouldn't put it past RC2 to do just that.

The Cougar... I hate the casting, and while most of us hate the tampoed releases, I actually think the cougar graphics on a Cougar are cute. Anyone know what series this one's coming out in?

The bad:

The Impala. Thirteen 13 isn't my thing, but that one's pretty bad by my standards. It looks like some graffiti artists got it. Or at least a five year old with a can of Silly String!

The Monte Carlo will be chrome. Save chrome for Christmas and WLs. Please give us real colors on regular cars!

Cooter's tow truck. Newly tooled boom hook. This is not the same as a new casting... So which truck are they going to throw it onto? My guess is the same '65 Chevy pickup they used for Jesse's pickup. Not show accurate, but then again, Hollywood On Wheels hasn't been completely accurate since release two anyway.

The Father's Day Corvette. That one's got 'pegwarmer' written all over it.

The what were they thinking?

Another BWF GTX? And it's not even really BWF as much as it's B&WWF. What's up with the white?

Cars become classics at twenty years old, therefore an '85 Trans Am and an '87 Monte Carlo don't qualify as "Modern Muscle". I'm not dissing the cars, but let's put them into programs they belong in.

Likewise, the C5 Corvette and fourth generation Mustang are no longer modern. They've both been replaced by newer models. 2000 Mustangs and 2003 Corvettes are staples of used car lots now, not showrooms.

Okay, I know I said this in the bad section, but seriously...the tie. I bought the pink Bug, I would've bought the shamrock flocked Suburban if I could have found it...but who's going to give their father a Corvette with a freaking tie on the hood?!?

I noticed that they have a blue & red light bar on the fire chief car. Unless it's different in other states I've always thought the blue lights were for PD only. I'm glad to see a FD car but it needs an all red light bar.

I did some web searching and found a fire chief car with a red & blue light bar.
So I guess I learned something today.

I didn't even pick up on the light bar! Most fire vehicles I've seen have same colored lights on both sides, so a dual colored lightbar is still the exception, not the norm. Good eye!

Midsize

I think it's a Classic Plastic release. I had an old plastic model kit with those graphics, so I'm guessing it will be in that series.

Ok, edited this after I realized I didn't quote Swifty's question about the Cougar. Hopefully it makes sense...

Look at where the front vertical line on the yellow flames start on the side of the casting. Looks like a major mis-registration issue to me.
I do like the Black With Flames series and I do like the GTX casting but it has already been done in the BWF motif.

Image courtesy of JLCollector.com. Thanks Wyatt.

I think that there are a lot of other JL castings that could have been used in its place.
This is just my opinion.
Any comments?

Support your local demo derby.

I'd agree with accobra on this. Plenty of other castings could have been done for the BWF. I'm thinking of a few:

1965 Chevy truck

1969 AMC Javelin

Posted Image

1970 Buick GSX

1966 Caddy Hearse

All pics courtesty JLCollector.com via Wyatt.

These would all make killer BWF castings for JL to use that are much deserving. What does the BWF committee feel?

Craftymore, all four of your choices are excellent candidates for the BWF treatment.
And if the '66 Caddy Hearse was given a BWF job that would be one hot commodity that almost everyone would be after.

There are dozens of other castings that I could list that would make great BWF candidates.

Cheers. Cobra

Some of them wouldn't even have to be BWF, the litle Chevy would look great witht flames painted blue.
