This is a recent slight custom I did a while back. Just did a wheel/rim swap and it makes a huge improvement. The casting is from the primedia/motortrend release.

It's one of JLs older castings, but still looks great.

The quantity of your diecast collection isn't as important as the QUALITY of your diecast collection

That looks really sharp. Amazing what a wheel/rim swap will do for a car!

those cragars are hot on that impala! and I agree with James, the detail makes it seem like a picture of a larger scaled model. Very nice!

I wish I could claim to have great photo skills, but honestly all I do is push one button to shoot close ups and click the picture button and wahla, a $10,000 photo lol.

Thanks for all the comments. They are appreciated.

Great pics! The '58 Imp is my favorite car from the Fifties. It looks great beefed up with mags, classic wheel covers, or simple hubcaps. I love the classic lines of this car.

When it comes to Johnny Lightning I often favor leaving the toy models in the blisters. This practice detracts from the photographs' clarity. Crooked hood and all, this "American Graffiti" release of the 1958 Chevy from 2002 is my favorite Johnny Lightning model. The full sized vehicle is not my absolute favorite. The toy is very solid and nicely cast and detailed.

Ironically the LCB Group (RC2) including Racing Champions , Ertl and JL have all produced separate models of the 58 Impala. All were different castings! The real car was a nice vehicle. I recall I had a few hours of driving pleasure in one when driving back to college. The owner of the car asked me to drive her new machine for a while to spell her on the 7 hour trip. She was an upperclassman and I ( as I recall ) was a Frosh. But the experience of looking out over that hood was unforgetable; now over 50 years later! Model collecting does bring back memories!
