Today's Car of the Day is Muscle Machine's Datsun 510. I should've cleaned it before the pictures, I know.

Affordable performance combined with simple & reliable mechanicals has helped the Datsun 510 remain a popular automotive enthusiast's car for nearly 40 years. Avid collectors can be found around the world with significant numbers in the US, Australia, & New Zealand.

I think this is one of the most tastefully done "tuner" style cars in 1/64. Not too much (with the exception of stickers and interior) but not too little, and the detail, as with the RX-7 featured back in March, is top notch.

It's too bad this line of MM no longer exists, I'm liking the direction that current tuner trends are going and these cars seemed to nail what was popular at the time.

The Mustang II is a Mustang too!
Definitely a nice one! I wouldn't mind someone doing a stock version of this car, but I added a couple of these Muscle Machines to my own collection as well. Very tastefully done!

Support your local demo derby.

A MM tastefully done with a bit of class. Good to see one done a restrained matter.

Out hunting for JL
I agree that this is nice due to the minimalistic approach to modifications. I do not really care for the rear of the car, but other than that it is good.

Yeah, I think I would have to agree with you there. But otherwise it's quite nice.

New casting? Quick! Take it apart!
Castings that have not been done for awhile usually show up again in a different format. The manufacturers can run the casting again with no tool costs, because it is already available. This one will be back someday. Like all castings, if you like one in particular, buy several when available so you can later make a version or two to your personal liking, as it may be a long time before it reappears. Plus when it does reappear, it will be a lot more expensive. :o

Mind you, Muscle Machines was *my* brand when these came out, and for the most part I skipped this series...except this little Datsun, the Z and the NSX. Those were the only models that grabbed my attention then, and still do now.
