I want to thank you guys and gals out there for all your kind messages and thoughts and prayers for my son, and I thought I would just update you on what is happening.

1. As many of you know my son Cancer has returned, in the form of a tumour on his head. The type of Cancer was confirmed to be Ewing's Sarcoma, which is the same as he had before. The tumour was surgically removed and a platinum and ceramic plate was put over the hole in his skull. a few days later he underwent his 1st round of chemo. He came home on the 5th of August and went back in to a local hospital on the 10 because of severe low blood counts, Came home one th 15th. We go back to Halifax on teh 24th for 5 days of chemo starting on Monday. I will leave him and his mom there and come back home to work my weeks shifts. So far he has recieved 1 of 14 rounds of chemo. Each round is about 2 hours of actual chemotherapy a day for 5 days. It is IV'd into hime via a semi permament port the surgically placed in him last month when he had the tumour removed.

2. Starting around the 15th Sept he will recieving Radiation therapy also, It will consist of about 5 minutes radiation exposure a day for 5 days in a row, the weekend off and another round. This will go one for 4 to 6 weeks. The precision on this has to be very precise, even then they told us that there will be some brain damage, he will loose somewhere between 3 to 5% of his mental abilities, and possible some motor skills on his right hand side, however that is extremely rare. These procedures are done in Halifax also. So Mom and him will be away for 6 weeks or so. He will contine to recieve Chemo at his regularily scheduled 3 week intervals during the radiation. he also will recieve 1 chemo medication via pill form as an out patient. This one is expensive and not covered ny my Blue cross plan, so I may have to cut back on my diecast purchases for awhile to come up with over a thousand $ every 3 weeks to pay for the pills. This is not optional so If there are no miracles in site there is time to max out the plastic, or mortgage the home. We see, several irons in the fire right know and things will work out.

3. SO we are 39 weeks away from the complation of the travelling and busy scheduling, then they will have to see what they want to do about his leg. This is left over from the last round of cancer, the surgury never healed correctly and his leg is severely crooked. So some more corrective surgury is required to help him in his mobility.

In the mean time he continues to be optimistic about his recovery and accepts what seems to be his path in life. One wonders why one so young is subject to all this pain and suffering. But one must have faith that it al turns out in the end, whatever that is.

Cheers for now
James

Hi James! That pic I found on the 'net a while back. We do have a siamese look-alike, who has that "famous" attitude and voice. He talks all the time, and loves to play ball....especially at 4 am when I still have an hour to sleep. His name is Dakota - we got him in South Dakota while we were on vacation this past June.

I'm sorry about your cat - it's never an easy thing to do.

And boy do you have great eyesight! There's no way I can see those itty bitty cards.
