Support your local demo derby.

The classic 'Gullwing' from Mercedes. It's in my top five of most beautiful cars ever made. This casting looks really nice. Has anyone other than Tomica recently done this model in small scale?

I saw it by someone like High Speed or Norev a few years back.

Siku and Corgi also did this model. James_autos may have a spare of the Siku.

I have a beater version of this Tomica from my childhood. It saw duty as a junk car at monster truck rallies of my youth, so the wheels are a bit bent and the paint's in less than perfect condition. I admit, I loved using Tomicas and Matchboxes for junkers since the suspensions added to the realism of the "crushing" with the cars bouncing up and down as the trucks rolled over them...

The first one was made in the 80's and the second one was released last year. Surprisingly though, they are both different castings

I have all the aforementioned-including one by Yatming. The Siku I have is in dark blue. Not the optimum color for this car, by any means.

Tomica's version has color variations. I've seen it in cream, as well.

Yat Ming never did this model. Zylmex maybe?

Corgi also did one. If I can find it I will post a picture.

Never seen a Yatming, Zylmex or even Corgi of this one. I have the Tomica in cream and the newer of the two Sikus.

I looked and looked through most of my boxes of cars and found the Corgi version and my Tomica casting.

I assumed it was a Yatming- it didn't have a Zylmex number on the base. Just China, and some obscure number. I do know it's too well detailed to be a Summer- it's quite obvious that the designer was sober.

Welly did a closed door copy of the Tomica. Similar wheels to those found on their Mustang II, Coronet, Fiero, and '84 Daytona.

The Welly version (well, two Welly versions!)...is this the one in question?

The first one is definitely the one I was thinking of- right down to the wheels! Never saw an 8 spoke version of it before- much nicer with those wheels and the lack of tampos.
