AMERICAN AUSTIN (US) 1930-1934 This firm was located in Butler PA where they began to manufacture under license a version of the English Austin Seven. These small Roadsters and Sedans were inexpensive for the consumer. In 1934, production ceased and the compan name was changed to American Bantam in 1937. But Automobile production ceased in 1941 when the US Army failed to award a contract to them to build their military Jeep vehicle. They did continue in operation after WWll by manufacturing trailers for a while. The only known model has been made by Eccles Brothers - but is not identified as such. |
