So I picked up a few new additions to my collection.![]() Mid 1980s to early 1990s stuff from the Universal era. ![]() Ah yes I remember in 1983 when I first saw this type of window box in place of the usual long blisters or picture boxes. Only being 10 at the time I did not know the ins and outs like I do now. ![]() Oh and this type of window box takes me back too. I remember seeing the first one (it had a Pontiac Fiero inside) at my local Co-op store on the revolving rack. ![]() And who could forget Universal's small blisters from the early 1990s. Blister packs keep coming and going. Oh such memories these bring back from my youth and growing up with the Matchbox brand. Sigh. WEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLL..... That's enough reminiscing. Jeez. This thing is turning all sappy. Let's have some fun.... ![]() Ooh I bet that "HERTZ". ![]() "RISI" does it. ![]() It's "PLANE" to see these things didn't like their blisters either. ![]() "JEEP"ers. What a mess. Time for the clean up crew to come and sort it out. ![]() That's it. Flatten and compress, flatten and compress. |

Absolutely! Too bad the plane can't pull an air strike and firebomb the packaging... ![]() Great DLM! I must admit, I don't recall ever seeing the gold boxes before. of course, if I had they wouldn't have lasted any longer than yours did.

Nice selection, never seen the gold 100 Years box however, I think the Gold boxes were usually Australian issues?

You really don't like boxes, do you David? It's a good job no one here is a die-hard cardboard collector, otherwise they'd be having heart attacks after seeing this level of destruction

New casting? Quick! Take it apart!
|
BRAVO, Tilley!! BP's and boxes are good for keeping the dust of the cars until you pop them loose. However, the cardboard is very useful when needed to send in for premium offers; a place mat if you are painting; a mat to set the casting on when stripping the paint; a place to test your paint brush or test a color mix; sometimes I cut the picture of the car out and save it for a future decoration; and the list goes on. The clear plastic has too many uses to list. Yes, this is a good site to show your photos without starting a riot amongst "value" ccollectors!

The gold boxes were UK issues. The advert on the back was to save up for 2 Porsches to send off for. You cut off the headers from basics, Turbo Specials or Convoys and sent them off. You had a choice between a Wrangler blue Porsche Turbo or a White Buttons Porsche 935 Racing. I saved up enough for 2 of each when I was younger. I still remember the day when all 4 turned up at the house. |

I will when I get a chance. I will have to hunt down the Buttons one as it is somewhere back in the collection. The Wrangler is at the top so I can pull that off pretty quick. It may be a few days though as I am currently on the night shift and doing 12 hours at a go is not leaving much time for anything else. |
