It's the second Friday of the month again - New Tomica day in other words. Here's what will hit the stores in May (so long as you live in Japan): #46-7 - Honda Odyssey - replacing the #46-6 Honda Odyssey It seems the Odyssey has joined the Toyota Crown as one of those cars that Tomica will model though any generational changes. This is the fourth generation being made: ![]() #58-6 (replacing the Nissan Cedric Patrol Car) will be the Suzuki Wagon R - another "kei" car. ![]() The "boxy" theme is set to continue, as it does for Japanese cars in their home market. At least to my eyes the Suzuki is a bit more pleasant looking than some of the others in this segment. Anyway, a bit more interesting stuff is also forthcoming: The new "Long" series continues with some more releases: #131 Mitsubishi Car Carrier: ![]() #132 Kayaba Machinery Boom Header (what does that do???) ![]() #133 Kobelco Crane ![]() The highlight for me is the new Limited model #107 - Mitsubishi Canter JAF tow truck: ![]() It looks like we're into the truck phase with the Limited series. Maybe not so cool as some of the previous releases, we'll just have to wait and see. Edited by diecastdingo, Mar 13 2009, 06:17 AM.

The Mustang II is a Mustang too!

Odyssey- good to see the new one represented. Suzuki Wagon R- agreed, nicest of the kei cars (but I'd still rather have a K-Car over any of them!) Really digging the car carrier, even if it's still way too small. The drilling Kayaba is okay, but the tow truck is fantastic!

It's interesting to see that they are keeping the basic concepts of the old Tomica Longs - just updating them into a more modern style. Here's a pic of the old car carrier which I had on file - you can that it also has the little plastic cars on the back, like the new one: ![]() (The one in the background is an Eidei - I was too lazy to take a new pic) Edited by diecastdingo, Mar 14 2009, 05:34 AM.

I like this one even better- at least the cars are more colorful, instead of all black... |
