Here we have an extremely nice model from Shelby Collectibles.

All of the $5 die-cast standards are here. Rubber tires, extra pieces (and plenty of them!), relatively detailed interior, opening features, and jeweled lights. Looks right when compared to the real thing as well:

Another big thing this model has going for it are the correct wheels; a truly rare feature on western die-cast!

Good detail on the rear along with a detailed license plate.

Here I'd like to point out something that really impressed me with this model: the extra peices. The bumpers, exhaust, roll bar, steering wheel, engine, rearview mirror...this thing has way more parts than your average die-cast! Great, great attention to detail and easily worth the retail price.

The engine bay is not at the detail level of the rest of the car tampo-wise, but this one still passes. I'd have to give it a 9.5/10 only because of a slight lack of detail in the engine bay and incorrect front turn signals.

Support your local demo derby.

Nice review and pics Rob. Bought this same version a few weeks ago at the House of Wal as well. If these were put on the blisters in 2006, make you wonder where they had been stored at for the past 3.5 years.

The Mustang II is a Mustang too!
Great model!

And bear in mind they may be using old cards for newer stock...

New casting? Quick! Take it apart!
I think SWIFTY is right. They probably are running all the cars again for the Walmart deal. I;ve only seen a few on the pegs. Maybe they were old stock, or new stock and they didn't need to bother changing the cards.
I guess Amy at Shelby made a sweet deal to get Walmart to sell them. Walgreen's clearanced them out here, now I see them back again at some stores! :o

Thanks Jedimario for the detailed review.
And special thanks to you for all the work that you put into making the images available for our viewing pleasure.
I have this casting and am impressed with the detail.
You show the casting with the doors open but forgaot to mention that detail. Other than that fact, your analysis is bang on.
I will go along with the 9.5/10 rating.
This is an impressive casting for $5.00.
Actually all of the 3" Shelby Collectibles castings are nice.
Have you checked out some of the 2008 Shelby Mustangs?
They are excellent, too.

Cheers. Cobra

I've seen them but haven't pulled the trigger. They are nice but this casting has a bit of novelty for me; I watched it auctioned at Barrett-Jackson so I thought it would be cool to finally pick this model up.

And I'm not a big fan of opening doors so I thought I'd just let the picture speak for itself

A lot of people saw that item sell.
It is one helluva car.
I'm glad that you bought the casting and did the review.
Thank you.

I am not a fan of opening doors or hoods for that matter.
I love this casting for the simple reason it is not just another 427 Cobra.
