No there isn't, when I bought the inventory of Tomica out from Diecast Minatures he had 90% of the cars in this set left and had told me the sets were nearly impossible to sell due to $$ at the time, so he split up his inventory and sold the vehicles loose. I would guess that he split up over 100 sets at the time judging from the inventory I purchased from him.

I have never seen this set in the package, as I am sure it is a rarity not to mention what it is worth today. I would have to say it is at the top of the Tomica scale both in rarity and $$ today. The loose single's have brought as much as $30-$50 ea. and would guess if there was a full set offered today as shown would prolly approach the $1,000.00 mark. Every car in this set is special tampoed or labelled and was not released in a box or blister. A super set of really great quality vehicles. :1:

I am extremely greatful to even see this as a set in package and a huge   for posting it.

I need more Tomicas...that part of my collection has been coming along decently though considering their limited availibility.

I would say yes. And I am sure he had quite a bit of $$ tied up and he was a buisnessman and breaking up the sets selling singles was a way to recover his investment, when I bought his Tomy inventory there was close to 7,000 pieces total left at the time, Most were Osaka Castle issues. This was a good number of years ago. I am sure he was glad to see them go too....But as I said I had never seen a full set as to what issues were missing, and many had never heard of the Osaka Castle Super Gift set, other than a few Japanese and Hong Kong collectors.

Well, I can understand the decision from a business point of view. From a business point of view, the looting and melting down of the inca gold was a good decision too, if you know what I mean. But from what I hear, most of the sets were broken up in Asia too as few people forked out that sort of money in one go.

Sure, the business man inside of me understands. The collector in me cringes at the thought...

Agreed 100% I guess the only question that remains is how many sets were produced to begin with? Anyone? What was the usual run of a limited edition back in the 80's?

How many of these models do you have left, out of curiosity? I see a few I wouldn't mind obtaining, but I'd imagine they'd be among the first ones snapped up...
