Cool! I assume this is done up in Japanese resque colors. Were Cadillacs of this generation converted to ambulances in 1:1? |

No, that is not Japanese resuce colours (they were white). Cadillacs were converted regularly to Ambulances and Hearses by a company called Superior. Matchbox did an older one back in the RW Lesney days and just recently a Hearse version. Here's a real one of similar vintage: ![]() Same as the Tomica, different paint:

The one shown by Dave by Tomica is a '73-'76 model while the 1/1 shown in red/white is a '67-'70 model. |

I got it blister fresh off the bay. Yes this is American colors and was a 70's release. Superior company did the conversions as said above. Matchbox version was the S & S company but I cant find any info on them. |

I thought S&S and Superior were the same? Maybe I'm wrong... The red and whit ambo isn't so hard to find - there's a blue & white one that fetches big bikkies on the bay. Edited by diecastdingo, Mar 26 2009, 11:37 PM.

The Mustang II is a Mustang too!

There were a few other hearse/ambulance/combo makers in the '50s through the '70s. Unfortunately new regulations regarding ambulances spelled the end for more than a few of them. Superior and S&S were probably the best known, the others escape me at the moment. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superior_Coach_Company |

It's suppose to be a modified version of the Hearse that Dave showed in black. So not an entirely new casting to be accurate. |

Although the MBs look good, I still like the Tomy. |
