Oh, I see. Once again the Bongo hard to find? It was a very common regular line one, and also released in several sets and other re-issues, so that surprises me.

The green one I hadn't seen before, but apparently it was a regular issue.

The Mustang II is a Mustang too!
I'm going to need to track down the Bongo!

We did the Midget II as car of the day a few weeks back, and it actually won the car of the week vote!

The Bongo is rare, but not that rare, but they command very high prices on fleabay. There seems to be quite a following for them, the same as for old Veedubs surprisingly.

I was lucky enough to find a matching pair of silver ones in a toy shop a couple of years ago for £5. They've since been sold.

The old Mazda Bongo vans were a bit of a cult surf mobile here - perhaps because the name indicated one of the two main activities that happened in the back of them?

But the combination of 1970s lack of rust protection and salt spray has made them all but disappear.

You still see quite a few on UK roads even now, and seem popular not with the surf crowds but with families instead. They were all imports as Mazda never officially sold them here, like the Mitsibushi Delica and Toyota Estima. All incredibly ugly cars.

Actually, I've just remembered that I do have two in my collection. But, they are not Tomica, possibly copies of the Tomica Bongo. Or Ford Fredas?
