I think it is; there's a different 8-series casting that showed up later (or maybe earlier?).

Yes, it was a Corgi carryover. I guess they figured it was a cool looking car, and it might move a few off the pegs. It was in the line simultaneously with their own 850i, which I thought was the nicer tooling.

Bought this same casting at a flea market last year for about 85 cents. Always have to give props to any small scale casting w/opening doors.

Nah, I thought the Corgi trumped the Hotwheels easily. Nicer size, opening doors, more casting detail and it came in a lovely metallic blue originally. I have the Corgi issue in metallic blue with Corgi wheels, but it has a Hotwheels baseplate. I added a bit of detail and now it looks the bees knees :P
