The car for today is the Real-X Nissan Fairlady Z432R

This was a Japanese market only special, intended to homologate the rally versions of the 240Z (which was known as the Fairlady Z in its home market). It has the same high performing 2 litre 24 valve straight six that the Nissan Skyline 2000 GT-R, and also in common with that car has black steel wheels with no decorative hubcaps.

It differs from the US/European Datsun 240Z in having the 2 litre Skyline engine (as opposed to a 12 valve 2.4 litre straight six), and it has twin exhausts, which are stacked vertically so as to fit out from under the rear valance which is designed for a single exhaust outlet. It also has competition seats and a spare tire mounted in the luggage area.

This casting by the Japan based Real-X, comes in 1/72 scale. Other than the fact that it depicts a racing version of a 1st generation Z, I have no other info to go on. The site that I used for a quote is actually just a link to a 1/18 scale model. Details on the background of this casting would be appreciated if anyone has them.

I can't remember whether I read this here or on another forum, but Real-X is Realtoy's new premium line. The quality certainly looks top-notch, but why did they have to make them so small?

New casting? Quick! Take it apart!
Good observation, James Auto, I'm not too comfortable with 1/72 as a premium car series unless you plan a diorama with 1/72 aircraft! :)

The Mustang II is a Mustang too!
Likewise the scale is my only problem with these as well. :( This is an excellent model, however!

Good - these ones really were hard to refuse when they came out. Likewise, i don't really want to get into 1/72, but...gee it is a great looking model!

Milezone's had some (and that's where both craftymore and myself got ours):

At the moment it doesn't appear they have any in stock, but it never hurts to shoot Russ an email to double check!

Thanks Sir Crafty for doing this one.
I have quite afew 1/72 Real-X castings and all of them are excellent.
They may be small but the detail is outstanding for such small castings.
These castings and 1/72 scale castings in general are seldom discussed.
I also have many 1/87 scale vehicle castings by several manufacturers.
BYW, I'm not into HO railroading (1:87 scale).
I just like these little guys. And I do mean little.
What's amazing about many of them is the great detail at such a tiny scale.

Cheers. Cobra
Edit: typo. correction
