the changeable conditions led to some entertaining racing with two very heavy showers through the afternoon. The trio of XJSs from the Reynolds brothers was an impressive sight but Keefy was to narrowly escape injury when the drivers side of his XJS collapsed leaving his legs trapped, the marshalls had to cut the steering wheel to extricate him.

Fresh (ish)

The Mustang II is a Mustang too!
Great pics- looks like it must have been one heck of a meeting!

I'm curious on car #802- was it a Corolla or the rebadged Chevy Nova. And did it run in the overs or unders?

Support your local demo derby.

The Olds didn't fare too well! Lots of good action in the vid. Thanks Ben for the pics and clips.

Yikes! That's a boat anchor for a motor. Those big blocks tend to overheat easier than their small block siblings. A 454 big block Chevy is 7.4 liters and the 502 BB is 8.2 liters, so I wonder what the heck the Olds had in it?

Ben, are the drivers/builders allowed to do any welding in front of the A-Arms on the frame and/or replace the stock body mount bolts with larger grade ones? Would think those modifications would help a bunch and keep the cars running longer or at least hold up better.

you're not actually allowed to do a great deal of welding/modification to the front end, but if the car has a distributor mounted at the front of the engine then you're allowed to put a guard on that to stop it breaking at the first hit. And of course if a car is rotten enough to begin with the racer will strengthen the existing frame for safety more than anything
