I got this e-mail from them a couple of days ago:

May 26, 2009Go-Velo-City Newsletter

"Greetings!

Unfortunately the Go-Velo-City Team has to
announce we are going out of business. These
extraordinary times have meant extraordinary
challenges for everyone - including our
business. So take advantage of our going out
of business sale. We're starting off by
taking 30% off the regular price. But hurry,
quantities are limited to what's in stock.

The Go-Velo-City Team"

The Mustang II is a Mustang too!
Unfortunately, this isn't a surprise to me. Kevin was talking about closing shop when Dave and I were there in January.

It's a shame though. No doubt about that! :(

I went ahead and placed my last order yesterday...very sad indeed but given the current state of the economy, I'm not surprised.

Support your local demo derby.

Thought I'd pass along some info, Mark from Mini-Motors bought out the remaining Norev and Tomica castings that Go-Velo had left over.

Got my order in on Wednesday of some things I'd otherwise never would find.

Just been on there and the prices of the Norev and Tomica seem very reasonable.

It wasn't the economy that caused Kevin to shut down. It had to do with the problem connected to selling products that might be dangerous to infant children and the necessary insurance to protect him accordingly. I saw him at Hershey in early September. He advised he will reopen under a new name at his same address in Bellefont (sp?) PA; but will no longer carry any 1:64 - only 1:43 scale .

If that's the case, then the world or rather America has gone topsy turvy.

The US legal world has been quite "topsy turvy" for some time! I spent 25 years as a claims Adjuster and accident investigator for a local Electric Utility Cobefore retiring in late 1994. My experience with attorneys over the years caused me to be very wary of those representing the other side. In fact, years ago, my somewhat rich Great Aunt offered to send me to Law School free of charge after I began working in Claims . I turned her offer down immediately without a second thought. I did work with some great attorneys that represented the company. But most others were not on my alltime favorites list!

I have always been good at finding loopholes and keeping track of things like laws, but the unethical decisions that lawyers so often make persuaded me to not touch a law career. I think that it's something I would honestly love doing if I knew I could get in it and stay ethical.
