This one I was thinking of damaging for the yard...but I couldn't. So, I painted the black base a little better, and gave it a fresh topping of clearcoat, and it's soooo nice. It's the popular Hot Wheels model that debuted in 1982. My sister told me that, in Germany, the cars sold at home come in 'funky' colors- lime greens, oranges, violets...and that this applies to the high enders as well. Hence, this one was brought over (actually, there was an orange full sized '80s MB diesel running around Princeton for years).

Ohhhh pretty! I'm glad you saved it. The 380 SE/SEL is one of my all-time favorite 1:1s. |

Nice repaint. Colors remind me of Ok. State. |

I'm glad you saved it as well. Another one screaming for better rims, however... |

The pictures seem to amplify problems that I don't see by mere observation...the axles look rusted. Oh well. I don't like those early '80s HW gimmick wheels anyway. I prefer blackwalls. |

Yeah, the Ultra Hots rims were not the best wheel Hot Wheels ever made. And Guisval of all manufacturers copied them! And considering how rarely Guisval updates their tooling inventory I would not be surprised if their wheel is still in production. |

Sean, or James, or whoever: if you come across the Guisval Ford Escort (the four-door, '80s), please...I do need it. Send multiples if you can! |

I got one in a job lot from Portugal last year. It had to have an appointment with the hammer - not to destroy it, but to repair it. The sides of it were bent, the baseplate had been rivetted on at an angle and both A-pillars had snapped and as a result the roof was out of alignment. It was a right mess, but I managed to sort out the worst of it. But I sold it to a friend shortly after so I no longer have it. Mira also made a 5-dr MK3 Escort so if I see either I'll pick them up for you. Could be a while yet though........
As far as I know, they are still producing 1:64 models using the same wheels but I don't think they've released a new casting for at least 10-15 years. They focus more on 1:43 models now although they haven't made many of them. Edited by james_autos, Jul 3 2009, 09:38 AM.

Actually, I'm in need of the 4 door Escorts myself. Totally unrepresented in my collection, unfortunately.
