DE SOTO (US) 1928-1961

This marque was introduced by Chrysler Corporation to be a less expensive companion to the top of the line Chrysler car.
It was designed to compete with the middle range priced vehicles in the market. It was even made available during the Great Depression to the United Kingdom for a short while. After WWII , the newly introduced styled grille featured thin vertical teeth for many years to distinguish it from the other marques in the Chrysler lineup. Due to a sales slump in 1959, the marque was merged with Plymouth and two years later production ceased entirely.
Diecast models of this marque were not very abundant unt 2008 when Castline issued the Fireflite and Adventurer models from the mid 1950s. Previouly models had been issued by Johnny Lightning and an Airflow from the 1930s had been made by Tootsietoy.
