WOW! What a heck of a derby tonight. It was well worth the 67 mile drive east to Brazil, Indiana. For as low as car counts have been this year all over the country, this show was quite good. Apparently after firing several promoters, the fair board got smart and promoted the show themselves. 1st place payed $1250 and 2nd payed $750 for the full size class. Compacts and trucks payed $300, $200, and $100. 30 full size, 8 compacts and 4 trucks competed in 3 classes. For the full size class, they followed basic Indiana style of derby rules. All door seams could be welded shut, top of the frame seams from the a-arms forward could be welded, and drivers can also run 22" hump plates. Like most Indiana shows, there is no leaf spring conversions allowed. Another key thing is they allow new style (80+) Fords & Lincolns to tilt the front ends. Tilting is when drivers cut the frames near the firewall on the new style Fords and then re weld them at an angle. Doing so makes the front ends of these Fords and Lincolns super strong and they can go head to head with any old style iron. Best of all, it only cost $7. I took a boat load of pics, like 250+, so I'll post pics in two threads. Enjoy. They ran 3 qualifying heats of full size and took 3 from each to the feature. They also later ran 2 consi heats and took two from those as well. Gravity flow water tank truck. ![]() ![]() All the grandstands are open so it gave the track a real cozy feel for lack of better words. At least you know by looking at this picture it's definitely Indiana! ![]() ![]() Heat 1 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Yes, that is a 3rd generation Charger! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

The Mustang II is a Mustang too!

I think someone should have told the Charger driver that he had the wrong generation. The fourth generation Chargers are rebadged Cordobas- that's what he should have been running! Ouch....if that car wasn't a total rustbucket that driver needs to be smacked around some. |
