Trucks

Dean Shorter of Terre Haute is in the 'Burban. He built the Caddyback sedan that ran at Cayuga back in June which has a mid 70s Caddy body on top of a roundback wagon frame.

The all white bubble top Crown Vic took 1st and the 38r mid 70s GM product took 2nd. The feature lasted about 25 minutes but it wasn't dull at all. Just a bunch of really well built cars. I'd say about 2/3s of the cars were '80 & newer with 14 or so of those being Ford/Lincoln. With the rules they run, drives are perhaps better off running the new style Fords and tilting them. If you can go head to head with mid 70s Caddys, 'Dobas and New Yorkers, why not?

Once again a great derby. I had the choice to attend the derby on Saturday either in Paris, IL which is 30 miles east of me or this one 65+ miles east. The derby at Paris only had 8 full size cars show up so I'm really glad I went the extra 30+ miles to watch this one at Brazil.

The Mustang II is a Mustang too!
Looks like a good derby! Compacts were FWD only or that's just what showed up?

One fox body Stang was there, but other than that they were all fwd. I think when you have mainly fwd cars in the compact class it kind of evens the playing field out. Don't have to worry about trying to take out tougher built leaf spring cars like Pintos, Spirits and Pacers. Actually if the rules allow V-6s for compacts, I'd personally think '82+ Camaro and Firebirds would be better. Seen a bunch of those run in the last few years that were fully welded and replaced the stock bumper with a '76 Caprice do really well. The front ends are quite strong.
