IMPERIAL (US) 1955-1975 Originally, Chrysler Corporation introduced the Chrysler Imperial in 1926 as their top of the line model. This vehicle was available for various custom body company installations into the mid 1930s. But in 1955, Chrysler gave the Imperial a separate marque status to compete directly with Lincoln and Cadillac. But due to financial difficulties experienced by the parent company, the marque was discontinued 20 years later. Small scale models have been made on a limited basis of this car. Hubley Real Toys issued a 1958 model. Impy Road Masters by Lonestar produced a 1963 version with many different logos including a police version. Johnny Lightning issued a model of the Barris Custom 'Black Beauty" which was a highly customized Imperial. Last but not least, Jada recently ssued a very nice replica of the Imperial Concept which was introduced by Chrysler at the wrong time: just as they were entering into major financial difficulties leading to bankruptcy and purchase by FIAT in Italy. Thus the ( new) Imperial was never to be produced by Chrysler Corporation and the Jada model remains as only a replica of what could have been if the economy were in better shape . |

This is one brand I really wish was better represented in small scale. No stock versions of the '64-'66, '67-'68 or '69-'73 bodystyles currently exist. I'd think GL or M2 would be great companies to do some of these Imps in small scale. Thanks for the info Dave.

Zach I concur 100% . I'm hoping that in a few years when the to companies start to need ideas for future products that they use some of these ideas ! Here's hoping! Until GL issued the later 300 letter cars, we did not have any. plus if M2 did not issue the 55 and 57 DeSotos , my display shelf would be a bit less occupied! |

They are such gorgeous cars- a travesty that they aren't better represented in 1/64. Here's the Impy:![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
