Wikipedia.com

Drag racing is a competition in which vehicles compete to be the first to cross a set finish line, usually from a standing start, and in a straight line. First gaining popularity in the USA after World War II (1945), the sport steadily grew in popularity and spread across the globe. By 2009, there were hundreds of drag strips in operation, mainly in developed countries.

Most drag races begin with a standing (stationary) start and are just 1/4 mile long (1320 feet). Races last between 3.9 and 17 seconds, with finishing speeds ranging from 80 to over 330 miles per hour (530 km/h), depending upon the type of vehicle being used.

This was from a Dragsters USA Collectors Edition box set I bought at a toy show several years ago for the right price, think it was like $10 for 10 JLs. The casting dates to 1995 and is quite crude by today's standards. Here on day nine of COTD, I was running out of options and saw this one still sitting the original box unopened. It looked too cool not to showcase for my last day. Besides, it'a a Chevy for James.

The Mustang II is a Mustang too!
I've never bothered to pick this one up despite having numerous opportunities over the years. Just not a casting I think is particularly accurate unfortunately...

Thanks for the effort Crafty, and the option of a Chevy to vote for, but I agree with Swifty, just not a very good replica of a camaro, either that of the crew that set ip up for the track changed a lot of teh sheet metal on her.

Would I leave it on te pegs certainly not for 10 for 10$, for $4.92 I would be thinking long and hard about whether it was worth it. That being said some time when all taht is left is that one, i would buy it because after all that is said it is still a Camaro.

New casting? Quick! Take it apart!
Believe it or not, I might have bought it for the scheme. You know I like cop cars, and even though this really isn't a police car, many depts., have a race sponsored car like this, and this one looks reasonably believable.
Okay Zach, not too bad a choice, but I'll give it 200:1 odds it'll make car of the week.
