My first visit to Standlake since the end of June, I missed the pre '76 Mike Hook Memorial as I was on holiday :(

A large turnout of 29 vans plus a Chrysler Grand Voyager and Toyota Lucida, and a similar number of street bangers turned up. Top vans were the Bedford CF and Chevy Campers of 54 Alan Cartwright and 267 Graydon Sheppard respectively, with other vans of note being the new-ish shape (2003 or thereabouts) Ford Transit, VW LT45, an LDV fire support vehicle and a huge Ford Transit bus. In the street bangers there was some rather rated tin in the form of a Hillman Minx, Standard 10 Super, VW Beetle and a very rare Vauxhall F-Type Victor

Support your local demo derby.

Looks like the vans must have put on a wicked good show. The Herbie clone I take it didn't do so hot. What year/model is the green #53 old iron?

Thanks for the great pics Mookie. do you have a vid along with the pics?

The Mustang II is a Mustang too!
Looks like a good meeting! I always love seeing the vans race- it makes for an interesting race once all the bodywork starts falling off!

As for the Herbie clone- racing a VW Bug you know it's going to be a short race. If he got two laps in without being followed in he's lucky!

not sure what year the Beetle was but it was a 1300, wasn't particularly early but they don't usually get raced because of the rear engine, it did OK until it was hit from behind by one of his team mates in the Victor!

am going to upload a separate video from Street bangers now
