OLDSMOBILE (US) 1896-2004

The Olds Motor Works was founded by R E Olds. He also later in life founded the now also defunct REO Company. One of the first models that carried the Oldsmobile name was the famous "Curved Dash " which is recognized by many scholars to be the first massproduced car; contrary to later Ford claims. This car was also reportedly produced by license in Germany as th Polymobil and Ultramobil . In 1909 this manufacturer also joined the newly formed General Motors Corporation (GM). In 1929, Oldsmobile also introduced a lesser expensive companion marque called the Viking. But this venture proved unsuccessful and production soon ceased. After WWII Oldsmobile became recognized as the technical leader in the GM corral . But by the turn of the century, present GM management opted to discontinue production due to intercompany competition between the existing Divisions. The Alero was the last model to be produced.

Models in small scale are plentiful and have been made by such companies as Johnny Lightning/ Topper, mini-Dinky, Valvoline ( subsequently issued by Golden Wheel) , Racing Champions, Hot Wheels, Majorette, Matchbox, Siku, Tomica , Ertl, Playart, Jada, Muscle Machines, Budgie, Husky/ Corgi Jrs, and most recently by M2 Machines . NASCAR replicas were also made by some other other manufacturers ; Action Performance, Racing Colectables/ RCCI, Pole Position, SCM ( Stock Car Miniatures) and Trackside/ Funstuff.

And while this is a GMC, not an Oldsmobile, it does have an Olds 455 under the hood.

1995-99 Oldsmobile Aurora - over here this one is about as rare as the one above, for the Oldsmobile brand had been retired from the European market before it was released:
