best meeting I've been to since the 3 litre meeting back in february, loads of tin and some monster shots going in, I took close on 120 photos so will put a selection up and then a link to the rest at the end...Best car in the under 1800cc class, one of only two RWD cars present in that class was 851 Bode's cool Vauxhall HC Viva Coupe, and best car in the overs would have been 541 Nick Cross's customised Chrysler until 622 Garry Webb pulled into the pits with an epic 1951 Chevy Fleetline

Great pics! Looks like a great meeting! Was the Chrysler a former movie car? There has to be a story behind that one!

not sure about the Chrysler, it was a stunning looking thing shame it lasted only one race...the Chevy Beretta was the other unusual custom car, it navigated through the carnage of the first overs heat to win, then something broke in the second heat so that was it's day finished

video here....

Looks like a really great meet. They sure put a lot of time and effort into the paint jobs. Ws the '51 Chevy just fodder for everything else? The Chrysler sure didn't last long with a few good hits to the trunk. They have far stronger front ends than trunks.

Mookie, do the drivers keep the stock fuel injection on the newer cars or switch them over to carbs?

To be fair, it was one really hard impact to the trunk having just watched the video! I don't think much else out there would have survived a hit like that...

The '51 Chevy finished the day pretty undamaged, think that was only due to it missing the chaotic first heat, it's being returned to a different track on 4th October. Standlake is one of the only tracks in the country that allows cars to be kept on injection, they don't have to be converted

Cool. Are there any other meets before the end of the year at Standlake? They look like they have a fairly organized race their though i wouldn't want to be the official standing on that 1st turn! Yikes!

I'm going to 2, possibly 3 more meets there this year, the bonfire meeting on 1st November, and the Westcountry Videos sponsored meeting on 29th November, both running to the same under/over 1800cc format. Also possibly going to the 1400cc Teams of 4 meeting on 18th October which is usually pretty lively
