This marque has been recognized as being one of the most successful producers of air cooled engine powered cars before the birth of the VW. Unfortunately, this company founded by H H Franklin experienced major financial problems during the Great Depression and producion finally ceased in 1934. The patents were taken over by Air-Cooled Motors Corporation; later renamed Franklin Engine Company . This latter firm specialized in aircraft engine production and was the source for the Tucker powerplant in 1948. Models of the Franklin in small scale are almost nonexistant . But there is mention in the "Diecast Price Guide" by Douglas Kelly of a model made by AHI of Japan. It is in 1;80 scale and is in the Antique Series. Kelly lists a 1902 " Ali Coold Frankline"from the Japanese listing. This is too much of a coincidence to not actually be a 1902 Franklin Air Cooled car model!
