Support your local demo derby.

What ticks me off is that there are now 1700 fewer new style Crown Vics. Sure they would end up heading the scrap yard anyway, but at least they could have been in some derbies first. Full size, full frame American iron is rapidly decreasing. Same goes for the 3rd generation Camaros and fox body Mustangs. If they wanted to scrap them, at least let them be trashed first at the local county fair.

Hmmm, a lot of that can't be right, can it? I doubt people would scrap Aston Martins and Bentleys to get a few thousand dollars off a new car. We have the same scheme in the UK, and buyers get £2,000 off a new car (£1,000 from the government and £1,000 form the car manufacturer).

I could understand people scrapping Alfa 164's, Peugeots and Rover Sterlings, but I'm surprised by the amount that have been scrapped. I didn't think there were that many left on the road!

James, Americans are stupid and have no love for anything that doesn't appear frequently on the telle.

Maseratis and Bentleys and Mk IV Supras, seriously?

Being an American, I completely agree with you on this! American's tend to be short-sighted and flock to anything shiny. Not all of us, but many. That would also be why so many American's have far too much credit card debt. They buy a brand new item (say a wide screen tv) and then have to buy a better one the next year just because their neighbor has it.

RIP poor cars :(

That was my thought on the Sterlings as well, and also on the Mercur Scorpios and XR4Tis that got scrapped as well. I thought these cars had to be running! ;)

Also, a 2006 Corolla? A 2008 Mustang? Two 2008 Foose F-150s? A 2008 Scion? These are nearly new cars!

And speaking of the Corolla...how does that get less than 18 MPG? Likewise on the single Honda CRX, Dodge Aries, and PT Cruiser that were scrapped.

I am seeing all kinds of abuse on this list...

Something's fishy here...many of these could've been sold by the owners for more than $3500-4500. Makes me shake my head in disbelief.

And of course the irony is that CFC has only piled more debt on top of the problem. I guess that while $18,000-$20,000 in the hole just isn't manageable, $15000 in the hole is just too good to be true.
