New casting? Quick! Take it apart!
I really see a lot of nice trailers here, and although old, I wouldn't mind having some of them---they seem to look just fine in 2009. Those shown by CRAFTY, OLD442DUDE and JEDIMARIO are some nice flat and multi level carriers. So this got me thinking, what selections do we have in 2009 of such rigs? I know the Matchbox is available, but it is actually more unrealistic than many of the older castings here!
(It's so tall it looks like a bridge overpass) Perhaps the John Deere rigs may still be available?
Sometimes I see that small rig sold in Walgreen's or Walmart (Kid's Coonection) which isn't bad for the price, but just a bit too small for most of the cars we collect and show at Swifty's Garage.
The only rig I can think of that may fall into a good compromise size is the Maisto All Stars, and that is not too hard to find, as it is always being reissued in some new scheme with a matching car.

Perhaps someone like M2 or GL should make one that isn't TOO large, but realsitic enough for dioramas and most car sizes in the 1/64 area? They could do a generic trailer with "selective compression" (a term model railroader's like to use with structures so things aren't too large, but still "look" right).

Here's one of my All Stars rigs with an assortment of diff. casting companies cars:

The wheels are what keep me from those All Stars, otherwise they are great!

Rob, you can paint the rims black and they won't look so "street tuner." Actually, a lot of private haulers who transport collection or auction cars that I've seen on I-15 have dressed up wheels and rims.
