Station Wagon

International Harvester Corporatin introduced their "High Wheeler" car in 1907 . This consisted of a two seated self propelled vehicle with a surrey body. After 1911, the company opted to manufacture only trucks and are still in business at present in this commercial capacity. In 1961, they again attempted to reenter automotive market by introducing a vehicle. some collectors might still consider to be a truck. The Scout by IHC was competitive with the JEEP that was being manufactured at that time. Also produced about the same time was a station wagon vehicle called the Travelall. But after 1980 the company again decided to only manufacture large over the road commercial trucks. Small scale models of the Scout have been made by Matchbox, Ertl and most recently by Johnny Lightning. |

Although slightly "genericized", the so-called "Field Car" by Matchbox is usually regarded as a model of the International Scout. This notion is reinforced by the variations which were re-issued in the USA only in 1980 under the name "Bushwacker", for they feature the name "Scout" and what looks like the International Harvester logo in the tampo design:![]() Edited by ChFalkensteiner, Oct 18 2009, 11:23 AM.
