I fonud the Blue Javelin Friday night at TRU. All the pics I have seen of it I thought it was a light blue. Either way it looks good.

The Mustang II is a Mustang too!
All three of these Javelins are amazing! And I too am hoping that the baby blue Javelin eventually makes it to the pegs. The reason for the color change to the darker blue is because they couldn't get the lighter blue's color to come out close to the AMC original.

You've GOT to be kidding!! :o :o
Anyone can go to The Home Depot and go to a self-service color matching machine on display, and get the formula for your match to take to the desk.
Auto paint is matched in the same basic way---no "guessing."
There's no reason for a diecast maker to not have the ability to match an auto paint.

Everything's explained right here:

My guess is it's a lot more complicated than running the Walmart or Home Depot paint matching machines. On a side note I used to work that machine at Walmart when I worked in hardware. I did quite a bit of eyeballing to "fix" what the color matcher didn't get 'just right'. ;)

I applaud GreenLight for taking pride in their replicas to the point of not releasing an incorrect color shade as 'close enough'. To me that shows a commitment to realism and accuracy!

Oh, and did anyone else notice this new version is the later '73-'74 Javelin with the Corvette style taillights and without a t-roof? I'm digging it!
