SALEEN (US) 2001-2007 (?)

Saleen Incorporated of Troy Michigan was founded by former racecar driver Steve Saleen in 1983. He began operations by modifying Ford Mustangs into high performance cars for both street and track applications. The S7 Supercar was introduced and totally manufactured by Saleen in 2001. In 2005 Saleen contracted with Ford to produce the new Ford GT cars. Steve Saleen left this firm in 2007 and founded SMS Supercars. Saleen Inc was acquired by MJ Acquisitions and a new company Saleen Performance Vehicles was formed to continue production in 2009 . However Steve Saleen has sued his former company and their owners to stop using his name on their products. It was recently reported that all production at the Saleen Inc firm has ceased. I could not determine when the last S7 was produced from the data available.

Small scale diecast models of this Supercar have been made by Motor Max, Hot Wheels and most recently Kyosho. Also in 1996 a model of the Saleen Mustang Racecar was issued by Johnny Lightning.

Saleen' s new company SMS Supercars is now reworking new Dodge Challenger "570s" , similar to what he formely did for Ford.

They're doing Mustangs and Camaros also.

Over here Saleen products mostly appear in the shape of racing versions. This one was on display at the 2009 Techno-Classica in Essen, Germany:

I saw one of those in a Saleen store while in SoCal. They had their own store in a mall! That was a bit shocking for this Northeasterner. But I really did love the vintage Trans Am look of this car.

I was also jealous of the parking spots those cars had. :P

New casting? Quick! Take it apart!
I'd like to see the Kyosho version. I have plenty of the smaller ones by HW and Motormax, and larger scale versions by other diecast makers. Great car.

This Bay and the threads in it are one of the reasons that SWIFTYS GARAGE is the best across the board diecast site on the net. I absolutely love this aspect of Swifty's
