![]() Today's car of the day is Schuco's '69 Ford Taunus 17m ![]()
![]() For more information and pictures of the real car please visit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Taunus ![]() This is one of just a few Schuco 1:66 models in my collection, which I aqquired a few months ago on ebay for a very good price. For a model which has got to be pushing 40 years old, it is very well-made. The Taunus was originally never sold in the UK, but later on Taunus models were sold in the UK under the Cortina name, which had already been around for a few years beforehand.

New casting? Quick!! Take it apart!
|
James Auto knows I have a very special spot for the Ford Taunus. An earlier version was my patrol cruiser while I was living in Germany. A small but comfortable and very reliable auto. I can't say this casting looks as good as the car I drove, but it's nice to see any castings of the Taunus!! Nice selection. |
I used to be a genius, but I found out it's a lot less work and more fun to be a redneck.

Oh Ricky what a pity, you don't understand...every night's a rerun and the laughter's always canned!

The German Fords of the '60s were very well styled, cutting edge for the time, and unlike the offerings of Citroen, were very attractive. Taunuses were exported to the states in small numbers in the late '50s, but nothing after that. My favorite's the circa 1960 17M, on a body that sort of resembled the Mark II Dagenham Z's, only it had very tasteful, yet snazzy chrome trim. Good choice, James. |
